Current Resources of Taiwan:
Land- Taiwan is a small chain of islands with limited natural resources. The Chungyang Range and the eastern coastal range contain deposits of gold and copper. Coal is mined in the north near the Tatu River. Petroleum and natural gas reserves are located in the northwest near the small city of Hsinchu and the town of Miaoli. The eastern side of the island has marble deposits near the town of Hualien. Taiwan’s many river beds provide sand, gravel, and rock for the construction industry.
Labor- Has the 46 largest labor force in the world with 11.07 million people. 73.4% of the population are between 15 and 64 years old, which provides a great percentage of people to work and fill jobs. Also 96.4% of the population who are over the age of 15 can read and write which makes production more efficient.
Capital- Taiwan's industries would include: electronics, communications and information technology products, petroleum refining, armaments, chemicals, textiles, iron and steel, machinery, cement, food processing, vehicles, consumer products, pharmaceuticals. Taiwan's industrial production growth rate was 26.4% in 2010 which ranks them 3rd in the world!
Entrepreneurial Ability- Taiwan is a dynamic multi-party democracy, the overall freedom to conduct business is well protected under Taiwan’s regulatory environment. In recent years, the country has continued to simplify registration procedures for aspiring entrepreneur's. Taiwan is ranked 25th in the world in economic freedom, and in 2008 they reached a trade agreement with China which has brought new entrepreneur's and more foreign investment to the country. Therefore, the entrepreneur is welcomed in Taiwan and has many opportunities to be successful.
